Norwood Scale 1
In Norwood scale of hair grade level 1 which is most common among many people in which mostly there is no Hair Loss.
In this case, 90% there is hair transplant in the frontal part of the head. It is the most common case among many youngsters these days and has been ignored for hair treatment or for hair transplant.

Norwood Scale 2
In Norwood scale of Hair grade level 2 which can be referred as an Initial stage of Baldness where hair is receding slightly in the temple area in a wedge-shaped pattern.
Need of Grafts & Diagnosis :

Norwood Scale 3
In Norwood Scale of hair grade level 3 which can be referred as a noticeable area of baldness and need for hair treatment. In Norwood Scale of grade level 3 – there is receding hair loss in the frontal, temporal area and can be seen in the initial stage of baldness in the crown area. (Upper center portion of head)

Norwood Scale 4
In Norwood scale of grade level 4, there is receding hair loss in the frontal temporal area but there is still a solid band of hair across the top (mid-scalp) separating front and vertex.
However, there are cases where hair loss is even seen in the crown area of the head along with the major frontal part of the head.
Norwood Scale 5
In Norwood scale of grade level, 5 is somewhat similar to Norwood scale of grade level 4 in which the hair loss is in all the three parts of head i.e. frontal, temporal and crown area.
Norwood scale (grade level 4 -5) represents advanced hair loss in the frontal hair line, Vertex and crown areas of the head.
Need of grafts (Grade scale 4 -5)
In such case of advanced hair loss in frontal, vertex and crown area requires hair transplant of around (4500 to 5500 grafts or hair tissue’s).

Norwood Scale 6

Norwood Scale 7
Norwood scale of grade level 7 is referred as the worst stage of baldness where hair is receding all the way to the base of the head and the only thing left is a horseshoe shape.
In this patients have extensive hair loss with only a wreath of hair remaining in the back and sides of the scalp.
Norwood scale (grade level 6 -7) represents advanced hair loss where the hair bridging the two sides of the head is fading away or completely gone.
It is advisable to determine if your donor area is sufficient enough for a hair transplant. Many patients with advanced hair loss still have an adequate donor area and will be very pleased with the outcome of a hair transplant.
Need of Grafts: (grade level 6 – 7)
This type of advanced hair loss requires around 6000 to 8000 hair tissues or grafts .
